Blits Transport started as a family business and we are proud to say that it continues to be just that today.  Our transport business started in the 1970s with Daan van der Walt.  He was a successful mielie farmer with soil of the highest value.  A friend of the family, who was in the construction business, came to visit Daan and was amazed with the quality soil he was working with and suggested to him that he should consider a career in transporting soil.  He then began transporting building materials such as building sand, plaster sand and river sand to builders and construction companies situated in Tshwane, thus his business Van der Walt Sand came to be.

In the years that followed, Daan’s sons and grandchildren took over the family business after he passed away, and along with these changes in management, the name of the business changed to Blits Transport.

Today, Daan’s son Jacob has more than 25 years of experience behind him in the business, and his son Chris that took over from him, has many years of knowledge and experience in running the sand and distribution business, and is now the managing director of Blits Transport.  Working alongside Chris is his brothers in the management team, and many hard working employees.  With hard work and a lot of work energy, Chris and his team are continuing to build and expand the business that his father and grandfather built.
